CoolSculpting: Why it’s still the No. 1 fat reduction procedure in the world

CoolSculpting is the number one non-invasive fat reduction procedure in the world. It’s a fat freezing procedure designed to remove those stubborn areas of fat that just won't go away no matter how much you diet or exercise. It is FDA-approved for permanently destroying fat cells and contouring your body without surgery.

It is important to note:

CoolSculpting is fat loss vs. weight loss, so you will lose inches of fat after the procedure but won’t necessarily lose weight.

If you’re not familiar with the basics of CoolSculpting, read up here first as we're getting down to more of the nitty gritty details and answering many of the frequently asked questions we receive from first time CoolSculpting clients.

What to expect during your treatment:

Our medical professionals will place the applicator on your desired treatment area. You may experience a slight sucking sensation as it adheres to your body, followed by a cooling sensation.

During the procedure you may feel pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations go away as the area becomes numb.

After the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment.

After the applicator is detached, your provider will do a brief massage on the area to break up the treated fat cells and enhance the fat reduction.

How many sessions does it take to see results?

There are two main factors to consider when this question is asked:

  • What area are we treating? The smaller the area, the fewer the treatments

  • How much fat are you wanting to remove? The more fat there is, the more treatments you will require.

Each treatment reduces fat in the treated area by about 20 percent. Depending on the area being treated and your body specifically, it may take up to four months before you see the full and final results.

How long do the results last?

This is one of the main reasons CoolSculpting remains such a popular treatment after all these years and the development of newer, similar type fat removing treatments.

When fat cells are destroyed, they don’t regenerate. This means that fat cells that are frozen and then reabsorbed into your body are gone for good. Those stubborn, fatty areas that you can never seem to touch with exercise or diet? After a round of CoolSculpting treatment, the fat cells in those areas will be history, permanently!

Now, this isn’t to say that you can’t still gain weight. When we gain weight, our fat cells get bigger. So, unless you maintain a healthy lifestyle, with a good diet and regular exercise, the weight can come back. But the areas that are treated? The fat will be gone for good.

Am I candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is not for those who have been diagnosed with obesity. The perfect candidate is one that has tried dieting and exercise but just has that fat that just doesn’t want to leave. CoolSculpting is the nonintrusive version of Liposuction. If you had ever considered going through a Liposuction surgery, perhaps giving CoolSculpting a bit of research before you make your decision.

Other helpful indicators that CoolSculpting may be right for you include:

  • You’re near your target weight

  • You’re tired of dealing with stubborn fat

  • You’re generally healthy

  • You’re not pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • You can “pinch an inch” or more of fat in the area

  • You have a firm understanding of the treatment

How long does each treatment take?

Another great benefit of CoolSculpting is that treatments take between 30-60 minutes to complete. The length of the session will depend on a patient’s specific needs, but it is an incredibly simple treatment.

How long should you wait in between sessions?

The recommended minimum wait time is 30 days before you get a second freezing session on the same treatment area. It may be slightly more effective to wait a little while, however. Ideal results from treatment are usually seen around three months after the initial session.

How much does it cost?

Last but certainly not least … the most important question and the one that’s hardest to answer. The two biggest factors are the area(s) you’re treating and how many sessions we think you’ll require. We won't be able to truly give you an accurate idea of cost until we schedule a free consultation with you and one of our providers.
