A face mask that’s beautiful, fragrant, cool, refreshing and filled with multiple benefits for your skin? It may sound too good to be true … but it’s not.
If you’re not familiar with the hydrojelly mask craze then sit back and educate yourself. We promise you won’t regret it.
Just like fashion, skin care is a trendy industry and manufacturers are always trying to find the next “it” product to market. In the area of face masks, Korean sheet masks are out and hydrojelly masks are IN.
And once you try one, you’ll fall in love, just like we have.
So, what exactly is a hydrojelly mask?
It’s a "jelly-like" mask, rich in electrolytes, a trending ingredient now showing up in moisturizers and face masks. Because the masks contain electrolytes (yes, the same type of minerals found in Pedialyte and other drinks that rehydrate our body), most people tend to focus on the hydration benefits of these masks. But they can do so much more . . .
Other benefits include:
Conditioning and toning
While there are several brands on the market, Esthemax seems to have the market cornered when it comes to estheticians and consumers alike.
They offer more than 20 different types of masks, meaning there’s a mask for every possible skin care concern. Our favorites include the Egyptian Rose, Hyaluronic, Brightening Complex and Purifying Active Charcoal.
Why we love them
Besides their gorgeous look and incredible smell, they’re all natural and truly do work wonders on your skin. Each mask contains a few core ingredients that are so beneficial for everyone’s skin.
A powerful antioxidant that protects, repairs and fights against environmental damage to the skin, wrinkles and signs of aging. It’s loaded with essential vitamins and minerals that work together to boost collagen, balance oil production, reduces puffiness and soothes redness.
Organic White Grain Oat Flour
It contains skin-soothing properties and can alleviate stressful skin conditions, such as rashes, allergic reactions, sunburn and other skin irritations.
Organic White Rice Flour
Filled with para aminobenzoic acid, ferulic acid, and allantoin, which means it’s a great alternative for sunscreen, it can be used to increase the absorption of Vitamin C in our bodies, AND works to repair the skin
White Willow Bark
It works really hard to soothe our skin and plays a big role in cell regeneration, which leaves us with beautiful, plump, and youthful skin. It also reduces inflammation and relieves stressful skin conditions, like rosacea, eczema and psoriasis. It can also reduce acne, excessive oil production, wrinkles, other signs of aging, and minimizes pores.
How do they work?
They come in powder form and once water is added, they form a jelly-like substance that you liberally spread across your entire face. The cool and refreshing feel and the fragrant scents create a multi-sensory experience that our clients absolutely love.
Once applied to your face, they create a soft-vacuum like seal over the skin which is one of their most important and unique functions. Under the vacuum seal, the mask pushes hydration and the ingredients from the mask and if you’re getting a facial from us, all the other nourishing ingredients we’ve applied to your skin, deep into the skin. This is why we typically use them towards the end of our facial treatments.
Can anyone use them?
They’re recommended for normal, combination or dry skin types. If you have underlying inflammatory skin conditions or sensitive skin, we don’t recommend doing them at home. If you book a facial service with us and are interested in adding one onto your service, we can do an analysis of your skin to determine whether we think one of the masks would benefit your skin.
